What Types of MBA programmes are there?

There are numerous forms and styles for MBA courses. In the past, a two-year Full-Time MBA programme was the preferred option for management hopefuls, but in recent years, Executive MBA and Online MBA programmes have become much more popular due to their flexibility. Below are some of the salient features of each form of MBA:

  • Full-Time MBA: The standard MBA programme is a two-year endeavour. It is a residential programme that offers hands-on learning opportunities, real-world projects, semester-by-semester evaluations, summer internships, and final placements. In India, there are over 5000 colleges offering full-time MBAs. The average cost of tuition is between INR 2 lakh and INR 25 lakh.
  • Part-Time MBA: This programme is best suited for working individuals who want to master essential managerial skills because it is not a residential programme. There are no campus placement or internship opportunities in part-time MBA programmes. Part-time MBA courses are offered by both public and private colleges. In India, there are roughly 300 part-time MBA institutions. The cost of the course is between INR 1 lakh to 10 lakh
  • Distance MBA: The candidate completes the programme through correspondence and remote communication. Because it is affordable and flexible, the course is intended for persons with little free time and money. The course can be finished in two to five years, depending on your preferences. There are around 490 colleges offering distance MBAs in India. The most well-liked is IGNOU.
  • Online MBA: Due to its ease and flexibility, the online MBA programme is currently the most popular type. Video conferencing is used to deliver lectures for the Online MBA programme, and a learning management system is used to share notes, tests, and assessments (LMS). One can enrol in an Online MBA programme while residing in another city because there are no on-site classes. Due to the fact that lectures are recorded and preserved in the LMS, there are no restrictions on attending classes. In India, there are over 170 online MBA colleges, the majority of which are private universities.
  • Executive MBA: This programme is only intended for individuals with at least five years of professional experience. Although it lasts less time, the curriculum is comparable to that of a full-time MBA (15 to 19 months). Executive MBA programmes are pricey, and some businesses offer candidates sponsorship opportunities. In India, there are over 440 executive MBA colleges.
  • Five-year integrated MBA programme: This dual degree programme combines undergraduate and graduate study. After class 12, one can pursue an integrated MBA degree. Candidates who decide on management as their career early on might pick the Integrated MBA programme, which combines the BBA and MBA degrees or with the BTech degree. Top universities like IIM Rohtak, IIM Indore, IIM Ranchi, IIM Jammu, IIM Bodhgaya, NMIMS, Xavier University, and Nirma University among others offer the Integrated MBA programme.
